Amanda B. Lewis is a Research Associate for the Southern Climate Impacts Planning Program at Louisiana State University (LSU). Ms. Lewis earned a B.S. in Meteorology from the University of South Alabama in 2011 and a M.S. in Geography from LSU in 2013. She is a member of the American Meteorological Society and the American Association of Geographers. Ms. Lewis previously served in this role from 2013 – 2015, before joining the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Engineering Research and Development Center (ERDC) in Vicksburg, MS as a Physical Scientist from 2016 -2019. There, she was an integral part of the Coastal Hazards Research Group, working with an interdisciplinary team of scientists and engineers to assess coastal hazards due to hurricanes and extratropical cyclones. Ms. Lewis is excited at the prospect of bringing the skills gained at USACE back to SCIPP and is currently working on revamping the SURGEDAT database, among other projects.
