Dr. Yang Hong received a Ph.D. in Hydrology and Water Resources from the University of Arizona in 2003. Following a postdoctoral appointment at the Center for Hydrmeteorology and Remote Sensing at the University of California, Irvine, CA, he joined the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in 2005. Dr. Hong is currently an associate professor in the School of Civil Engineering and Environmental Sciences and directing the Remote Sensing-Water-Hydrology research group (http://hydro.ou.edu) at the University of Oklahoma. His primary research interests are in remote sensing retrieval and validation, hydrology and water resources, natural hazard prediction, land surface modeling and data assimilation systems for water resource planning under changing climate. Dr. Hong is the current AGU Precipitation Committee Chair and has served editorial boards of International Journal of Remote Sensing, Journal of Natural Hazards, and Landslides Journal. Dr. Hong also serves as the associate director of Center for Natural Hazards and Disaster Research and affiliated faculty member with the Atmospheric Radar Research Center, Center for Spatial Analysis, and Water Technology for Emerging Regions at the University of Oklahoma.
