Tornadoes are among the most destructive weather-related hazards. While tornadoes are most common in the United States east of the Rocky Mountains during the late afternoon, they have occurred in all states, during all months, and during all times of day. Many of the states which have the highest numbers of tornadoes and deaths caused by tornadoes are located in the SCIPP region.
