SCIPP had the opportunity to participate in two incredible outreach events in early November!
The National Weather Festival took place on November 1st at the National Weather Center. This event welcomed the public into the building to learn about a variety of weather-related organizations— from research groups to severe weather broadcasters. Attendees of all ages participated, including young children amazed by weather, current and aspiring Meteorology students looking to broaden their understanding of the field, and professionals interested in exploring sectors beyond their own. SCIPP’s Rachel Riley (Director), Caylah Cruickshank (Program Manager), and Josephine Kilgore (Student Climate Communications Assistant) hosted a SCIPP booth at the festival. They demonstrated SCIPP’s tools, shared resources, and provided information about our research and broader impact. For more information about the event, the National Weather Festival Website can be found here.

The following week, on November 5th, SCIPP also participated in the University of Oklahoma College of Atmospheric and Geographic Sciences Career Fair. This event allowed current students with majors in the School of Aviation, School of Meteorology, and Department of Geography and Environmental Sustainability to connect with professionals in their field. Caylah Cruickshank shared SCIPP’s research and resources with several students and provided information about SCIPP’s recent Summer Internship.
