In response to the Southern Plains drought that developed in 2011, regional climate services partners, including SCIPP, launched a multi-pronged effort to improve communication and management strategies. The effort included four regional drought forums, more than a dozen topic-focused drought webinars, weekly briefings, a region-wide planning workshop, and an effort to improve drought monitoring. Each partner brought unique skills and expertise to the task at hand.
