Between January 21 and 22, a winter storm moved through the U.S. Gulf Coast, leaving several inches of snow and cold temperatures in its wake. SCIPP Research Associate, Derek Thompson, and Co-PI, Dr. Vincent Brown, prepared a report detailing preliminary snowfall totals and minimum temperatures from this event. From this report, they found that an area slightly larger than Maryland received over 6 inches of snow. Select locations received more than 12 inches. Furthermore, several locations experienced more than 30 hours below freezing, with temperatures as low as 1°F being recorded in Iberville Parish, LA.
